Mail Order of Firearms and Ammunition
This is in Effect from June 2019
All Firearms, this includes Soft Air and Airguns, require a Police Mail Order Form if you are wishing to order and have shipped to you. This includes Private Sales.
All Firearms must now be sent Dealer to Dealer. To find a Dealer that you can collect from, consult the Firearms Dealer Network member in your area. This system was imposed by freight companies after the Christchurch Shooting. They will no longer deliver Firearms to Private Addresses

If we are sending you a firearm that you have purchased of us, arrange with us the details you need to get the appropriate Police Mail Order Form, nominate the closest member of the Firearms Dealer Network to you, we may have their details already, but if not you will need their details for the Police Form, the Police will email this completed form to us.
We will then ship the gun to that dealer.
If you are arranging a firearm to come to us for you to collect from another dealer or a Private Purchase you will need our address (on front page of our website) and our Dealer Licence Details.

Most members of the Dealer Network charge between $10 and $20 for their time in sending and or receiving a parcel. We don’t charge a service fee for guns we send out that are purchased off us. Freight is ALWAYS charged.
Hunting and Fishing are specifically excluded from the Dealer Network.
Not all independent stores are in the Network.
Gun City have their own system for shipping guns between their stores.
Remember the businesses involved in the Dealer Network are doing you a favour if you wish to send Private Sales through the network. Calling them and wasting their time will not be helpful and is likely to incur extra costs.
The receiver is not making a sale and is only covering costs on the time involved. It is your responsibility to give the Police the correct information concerning the seller and receiving dealer.
Dealer Network List as at 23/3/21
Step 1) Use the list of dealers below to find a dealer closest to the sender and one closest to the recipient.
Step 2) Obtain a mail order form for the transaction from the police. Confirm with your AO that they are ok to send the firearm dealer to dealer.
Step 3) Contact the dealers involved and confirm sending and receipt dealer delivery addresses. If you are using Serious Shooters to recieve or send a firearm our details are on this page.
Step 4) Take the gun and the mail order to the sending dealer. The sending dealer will record the mail order details in their book. They will then charge you for sending the firearm. The price on this is entirely at the discretion of the sending dealer.
Step 5) The sending dealer then sends the firearm and mail order to the recipient dealer.
Step 6) The recipient dealer contacts the buyer, buyers name and contact details MUST be clearly shown on the outside of the packaging. They then then sight the licence of the buyer when the firearm is picked up.
Important Note: It is the responsibility of the sender to package the firearm appropriately.
